Howz it everybody! Hopefully my bio doesn’t put you to sleep. I came to Fayetteville in 2005 after being signed to play Quarterback for the Fayetteville Guard Professional Indoor football team, and I had NO CLUE what I was getting myself into. I had the tremendous privilege of receiving a football scholarship out of high school to the University of Hawaii, where I received a Bachelors degree in Communications in 2002 and more importantly met Jesus Christ in a life-changing way as a freshman in 1999. From the moment my eyes were opened to the Truth the desire to tell others about God and show Him real through my life any way possible has driven me to where I am now. As a student-athlete I led the charge in birthing and leading a Champions for Christ chapter at UH that grew out of a simple team Bible study and spread throughout the Athletic Department. In 2003 I couldn’t shake the desire to continue in ministry while pursuing a professional football career so I went to the EveryNation Graduate School of Campus Ministry, where I received a certificate in Missions Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary after successfully completing the 6-month training. I returned to Hawaii to play Arena football as well as serve as a campus minister and college pastor for Grace Bible Church and EveryNation Campus Ministries, leading a ministry of 65 college students, serving also as team chaplain for the University of Hawaii football and baseball teams before passing the baton to better men after I signed with the Guard. Speaking of the Guard, I might as well mention that we’ve gone 27-2 the past 2 years, including an undefeated 2007 campaign capped off with a victory in the Indoor Bowl Championship. All of this pales in comparison to what happen soon after the season ended, when I married the most AMAZING woman I’ve ever met. I didn’t know a woman like Sarah existed, and I still can’t believe she’s all mine for the rest of my life—Thank you Jesus!
What fuels your passion for Campus Ministry?
I was saved and discipled on the campus. Plus, the leaders of our future and my children’s future are on the campus!
What are your hobbies?
Hanging out with my wife, football, reading, surfing or any beach activity for that matter, watching Martin reruns, volleyball, golf
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done?
Other than winning the heart of the most incredible woman in the world? I’d have to say being given the privilege of introducing someone to God. There’s nothing like leading a person through the prayer of salvation and seeing the freedom it produces in them. It’s an unbelievable feeling to be used by God, far greater than any big wave or big game.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever seen God do on campus?
I got to see someone’s leg grow out (literally) as we prayed for God to heal them.
What are your 3 favorite movies? Northshore, Gladiator, Dumb N Dumber
If you only had $4 in your pocket on a cold winter day, would you buy lunch or Starbucks?
LUNCH!!! Who spends $4 on a cup of coffee????? I still don’t get that.
East Coast or West Coast? No coast—it’s all about the Islands brah! But if I must choose, DEFINITELY West.
